If it turns out that we collect more in registration fees than the cost of the conference, we will refund the difference.  We are non-profit and our books and records are open to all to confirm that we have Spent No Evil!

We have a meeting room reserved in the Holiday Inn Express at Village West, in a new shopping area of Kansas City, Kansas called “The Legends,” near the new Kansas Speedway.  (Click here)

See http://www.legendsshopping.com/  for more details.

The address and telephone number of the hotel are above.

The hotel has reserved a block of rooms for No Evil Monkey Collectors for the nights of Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4.  The special rate is $104.95, plus tax, per night, for a room with two queen beds.  The rate includes breakfast.  There are also restaurants within walking distance. To get the special rate, mention that you are with the group “Annual-ish No Evil Monkey Collectors’ Gathering.”

The conference will start at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, although some of us will be there earlier.  We will end after breakfast on Sunday, June 6.

Site:  Holiday Inn Express at Village West, 1931 Prairie Crossing, Kansas City, Kansas 66111.  Their telephone number is 913-328-1024, or you may book reservations through their toll-free number, 1-800-957-4654, or on line at:

The hotel has free parking, if you drive or rent a car, a breakfast bar, high speed internet access, an indoor pool, and a business center.

Friday, June 4:  We will gather in the meeting room any time after 3:00 p.m. and renew friendships, enjoy some refreshments, pass out conference materials and maps, etc.  We will plan a group dinner at a nearby restaurant (or collector’s home) at around 7:00 p.m. (Click here for details). We will car pool from the hotel; maps and driving directions will be available.

Saturday, June 5:  We will start at 9:00 a.m.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Activities will include:

Slide show of the Bruce Kittess’ and Emil  Schuttenhelm’s recent trip to Japan, and

their quest to fill in some of the details in the history of the No Evil Monkey concept;

A blind auction of No Evils.  Bring anything that you want to sell!

Discussion of future No Evil Monkey Collector conferences.

Dinner and collection viewing at a local collector’s home.  We will car pool from the

hotel and have maps and driving directions available.

After dinner, if there is sufficient interest, we will go to a local jazz club near the hotel and hear some of the best live jazz in the US.

Sunday, June 6:  We will meet for breakfast in our conference room at the hotel, take care of any unfinished business, and say our good-byes.  We will have maps available showing how to get to Kansas City area flea markets, antique malls, and gift shops.

Materials:  You don’t need to bring anything, unless you want to show slides or pictures of your collection or you want to sell anything in the silent auction.

We will provide: (1) A booklet with information about all the attendees (please fill out and return the survey at the end of this form), and (2) the projection equipment for any slides, videos, or CD-ROM photos of your collection that you want to show.

Transportation:  If you are driving, the Holiday Inn Express at Village West is right off the Parallel Avenue (West) exit off of the western side of the I-495 loop around Kansas City.

If you are flying, book your flight into the Kansas City International Airport (MCI).  Most major airlines serve it, but Southwest Airlines has the most flights in and out of Kansas City.  If you rent a car, it is about a 20 mile drive from the airport to the hotel.  If you would like someone to pick you up from the airport, call Gregg Ottinger in advance (Tel: 913-268-0100) or e-mail him (gdo@duncanallen.com) and we will arrange to have someone meet you and bring you to the conference and back to the airport after it concludes.  You can find driving directions on line at MapQuest.com, or get directions and maps from the rental car agencies at the airport.

What to Wear: Kansas City should offer comfortable, shirt sleeve weather in early June, although it can also be very hot.  Dress for all of the conference activities is as casual as possible.  The hotel has an indoor swimming pool.

Kids:  Your kids are welcome!  Gregg Ottinger has a 10-year-old and an 8-year-old who would love to play with your children.  Gregg’s wife, Kenda, has offered to baby sit during the daytime.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Kansas City!

If possible, please fill out and return, by e-mail or regular mail, the survey found on the next page, and include a photograph, if you have one.

See You In Kansas City!!!

Footnotes:

1. See http://www.kansasspeedway.com/  for information and activities.  Although there is no NASCAR race that weekend (thank goodness!), the Richard Petty Driving Experience offers the opportunity to ride with a professional driver on the track that weekend, or to drive a NASCAR car yourself on the track.  See http://www.1800bepetty.com/experience/ScheduleDetails_KC.aspx  for details.

2. Kansas City is a steak and barbeque town.  Our dinners on Friday and Saturday will probably consist of salads, baked beans or corn-on-the cob, and a selection of beef, chicken, turkey, and pork barbeque from local barbeque and steak joints.  If anyone has dietary restrictions or would prefer a less gut-busting menu, let Gregg Ottinger know by e-mail, phone or a note with your registration, and we will be happy to accommodate you.
