I have just bought a set of the three monkeys identical to one illustrated by Mr. Schuttenhelm in his China section. It is the one that is three down from the top in the right hand column -- porcelain with polycrome decoration in what I think is the "Tabacco leaf" pattern. What can you tell me about them? When were they made and for what market? Are they common or hard to find? I would greatly appreciate all you can tell me. Thanks.

Ik heb pas een set HZZ apen gekocht die identiek zijn aan die van de Hr. Schuttenhelm op de bladzijde China. Het is de derde foto van boven aan de rechterkant – porselijn met polychrome versieringen in wat ik een tabakbladeren-patroon zou noemen. Wat kunt U mij erover vertellen? Wanneer zijn deze gemaakt en voor welke landen? Zijn ze algemeen of moeilijk te vinden? Ik zou het heel erg waarderen als U me er alles over kunt vertellen. Bedankt.

Ich habe kürzlich einen Satz Drei-Affen gekauft, identisch zu den Affen auf Herrn Schuttenhelms’ China Seite. Es handelt sich um das dritte Bild von oben auf der rechten Seite – Porzellan mit mehrfarbigen Dekorationen, ich würde sie Tabakblätter nennen. Können Sie mir mehr darüber erzählen? Wann wurden diese Affen hergestellt und für welche Länder? Sind sie allgemein oder schwierig zu finden? Ich würde es sehr schätzen wenn Sie mir alles darüber erzählen könnten. Danke.

Valuation:

It is a nice set, but not very old, maybe about 30 years. The manufacturer was in China. The monkeys were sold thru an exporter in Hong Kong, mainly to the USA, but also to some European countries. They certainly are not common, but also not extremely rare. Once in a while they are offered for sale in eBay.com. Several variations in pattern and color exist, including a kind of "Delft blue". Hope this information is useful to you.

Het is een mooie set, maar niet erg oud, misschien zo’n jaar of dertig. De fabrikant was in China. Deze apen warden verkocht door een exportfirma in Hong Kong, hoofdzakelijk naar USA, maar ook naar een aantal Europese landen. Ze zijn zeker niet algemeen, maar ook niet héél zeldzaam. Ze worden af en toe in Ebay.com te koop aangeboden. Er bestaan verschillende uitvoeringen en kleuren, waaronder ook “Delfts Blauw”. Ik hoop dat deze informatie van interesse is.

Es ist ein schöner Satz, aber nicht sehr alt, vielleicht 30 Jahre. Der Hersteller war in China.
